Cigars Davidoff: Tobacco Excellence by Zino Davidoff
Davidoff cigars, founded by Zino Davidoff, embody elegance, luxury and a passion for quality. Originating in Geneva, the brand has gained worldwide renown for its exceptional taste and meticulous craftsmanship.
Davidoff is a leading Swiss tobacco company, specializing in the manufacture and marketing of cigars, pipe tobacco blends and smoking accessories. The group also offers luxury products such as perfumes, leather goods, writing instruments, watches, eyewear, coffee and cognac.
Zino Davidoff, the brand's emblematic figure, not only transmitted his passion for cigars to Europe, but also revolutionized the cigar world by inventing humidors. He transformed his modest civet house in Geneva into a nerve center for Cuban cigars in Europe.
After the Second World War, Zino Davidoff suggested to Cuban cigar makers that they create a range of cigars associated with the names of Grands Crus of Bordeaux wines. Thus was born the "Châteaux" range, produced by Hoyo de Monterrey. Wines such as Château Lafite, Château Latour, Château d'Yquem, Château Haut-Brion and Château Mouton Rothschild have become legendary Davidoff cigars.
Following this fruitful collaboration, the Cuban producers invited Zino Davidoff to create his own cigars. The Davidoff N°1, N°2 and l'Ambassadrice were born, followed by the 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 series. Davidoff discontinued cigar production in Cuba and and moved it to the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua due to disagreements over quality and control with the Cuban authorities. Despite several attempts at resolution, the problems persisted, leading founder Zino Davidoff to move production to the Dominican Republic in 1989 to ensure better quality control.
Manufacturing in the Dominican Republic and Honduras
Today, although the majority of their cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic, the spirit of perfection that drives them remains the same, perpetuating the legend of this man who left his mark on the history of cigars in Europe.
Davidoff produces around 34.1 million cigars a year. Production increased by 35% in 2021 compared to the previous year, in response to strong market demand. Davidoff cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic and Honduras.

These cigars are made from the highest quality tobacco from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The Davidoff Nicaragua is renowned for its rich, complex flavours, with notes of coffee, leather and hazelnut. On the other hand Davidoff Escurio offers balanced flavors and a creamy smoke, with notes of cedar and citrus. Finally, the Davidoff Yamasá is known for its intense flavours of cedar, spices and dark chocolate.
Zino Davidoff
Zino Davidoff, the founder of the Davidoff brand, was born in 1906 into a family of cigar makers. In 1930, he took over the family business and quickly developed a reputation as a tobacco expert. Under his leadership, the company flourished and became synonymous with quality and excellence in the cigar world.
