Whisky Carsebridge

Carsebridge is one of Scotland's many long-lived grain distilleries. It was founded in the late 1700s by John Bald in Alloa. Originally, Carsebridge produced malt whisky, but after a few decades production switched to grain whisky due to the growing popularity of blends in Scotland. Carsebridge was one of six distilleries that came together to form the Distillers Company Limited in 1877, and continued to grow over the years, becoming one of Scotland's largest distilleries. A fire broke out in the distillery in 1902, bringing production to a halt for almost a year. Like many Scottish distilleries, Carsebridge closed in 1983, despite fairly recent extensions. Much of the distillery has been demolished, and bottles of Carsebridge whisky are rare (but delicious!).
