Montecristo

The Montecristo brand was founded in Cuba in 1935 by Alonso Menendez and Pepe Garcia, at a time when Cuban cigars were becoming increasingly popular worldwide.

The brand name was inspired by Alexandre Dumas' novel, "The Count of Monte Cristo"which was particularly popular with the torcedores (cigar rollers) at the factory where Montecristo vitolas were made. In fact, it was common practice at the time to read novels aloud in cigar factories to entertain the workers during their painstaking work.

This literary tradition is intimately linked to the brand's history, giving it an aura of sophistication and culture. Over the years, Montecristo has established itself as one of the world's most respected and appreciated cigar brands, synonymous with quality and excellence.

Today, the brand is produced both in Cuba, under the supervision of the state-owned Habanos SA.
