Cigars La Galera Imperial Jade

The history of La Galera Imperial Jade cigars

Jose "Jochy" Blanco has opted for Cameroonian wrapper leaf from Africa, which is difficult to obtain and extremely sought-after. This is the first time he has used a Cameroonian wrapper for a cigar La Galera. The wrapper is known for its suppleness, beauty and taste, but it's a thin and rather stiff tobacco leaf, making it difficult to process. But that hasn't stopped Jochy and his experienced rollers from creating a first-class cigar.

Cameroon wrapper cigars are rare, and not without reason. Seeds of this tobacco variety are prone to disease, have low yields and are grown in Cameroon, a Central African republic that lacks experienced growers and skilled tobacco processing personnel.

The lack of tobacco know-how in Cameroon represents an additional effort for the Tabacalera Palma factory. As soon as tobacco is delivered from Cameroon, it has to go through additional processes.

Red pepper is one of the aromas that emerge from this cigar, and although it is not a peppery cigar. It's a good indication of the Cameroon wrapper's contribution to the cigar's aromatic profile. Over time, an initially hidden sweetness is added. The creamy, earthy aromas are present rather subliminally throughout the smoke.
