Cigars Vegas Robaina

The history of cigars Vegas Robaina

Although the Robaina plantations have existed since 1845, it was not until Alejandro Robaina Pereda took them over in 1951 that the farm's products gained notoriety. The tobacco grown here has the reputation of growing the best leaves in the world, especially when used to make cape. In fact, 80% of the tobacco leaves grown on the Robaina plantations can be used for wrapping, whereas only 30% of production elsewhere can be used for this purpose. The brands Cohiba and Hoyo de Monterrey source their tobacco leaves from Alejandro Robaina Pereda's farm. In 1990, the Cuban government named Alejandro Robaina the best tobacco producer in Cuba.

From family business to state enterprise
In 1997, the fourth generation of the Robaina family agreed to take the next step. In collaboration with Habanos S.A., they announced the launch of their own brand of Cuban cigars, to be made from tobacco leaves grown on their own plantations. And so Vegas Robaina was born. As a tribute to the man who made the Cuchillas de Barbacoa farm famous, Don Alejandro Robaina, a photo of him surrounded by his entire family is affixed to each of the brand's cigar boxes. Today, Vegas Robaina is a thriving business: along with Cohiba and Trinidad , they form the top three best-selling brands. As proof of this commercial success, Habanos S.A. has placed Vegas Rovaina at the Alto (top) level of its pyramid. The brand is no longer managed by the Robaina family, who handed over the reins to the Cuban state. Nevertheless, it remains the symbol of the success of Vegueros, the tobacco growers whose agricultural know-how is at the origin of the excellence of Cuban cigars.

The aromatic range of Vegas Robaina cigars is extremely rich. There is diversity, but two constants: a bouquet of floral aromas and a nutty fragrance. These are mild cigars.
