Rum Havana Club
Havana Club is a brand of rum made in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba. It was founded by José Arechabala in 1878.
Created in 1878, after the name of a Havana nightclub, Havana Club was brought out of relative oblivion to the forefront in the wake of the revolution1.
After the Cuban revolution of 1959, the company was nationalized by the government, forcing the Arechabala family to leave for Spain and then emigrate to the United States.
The company really took off in 1993, thanks to an agreement between Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government, which brought it international renown. Today, Havana Club is available worldwide, except in the United States. Since then, the rum has been produced under the Havana Club International brand.
