Armagnac Domaine d'Aurensan

Our history

We have been proprietors since the end of the 19th century. Domaine d’Aurensan is our family home.

Our family vineyard extends over 7 hectares on the clay-limestone soils of the Ténarèze.

We work our vines at their own pace and according to their needs, all year round. Particular care is taken with pruning, to optimize the quality of the harvest and the longevity of the vines.

We pick the grapes when they have reached the ideal ripeness for distillation, with high acidity and low sugar levels.

Once the harvest is complete, vinification can begin. No oenological products are added (sulfur, chemical yeasts, etc.).

The Domaine's cellars have a high level of humidity, which encourages slow, gradual ageing. Our pièces (traditional 420-liter Armagnac casks), made from the estate's oak trees, give our eaux-de-vie their unique aromatic character, since it is from the wood that the eau-de-vie extracts the secondary aromatic compounds that it will then take a long time to mature.

Our Armagnacs are bottled to order, by hand and on the property, without filtration. This is the moment that freezes the ageing of the eau-de-vie, so it's a decisive date in the age of the Armagnac. It appears on every bottle.
