Whisky Langatun
Langatun was active in beer brewing for a long time before turning to whisky. This Bernese distillery produces a range of round, smooth whiskies aged in a variety of casks. Langatun and the best Swiss whiskies are on sale at cigarpassion.com. Langatun is the Celtic version of the name Langenthal, a settlement dating back to 861. The name means "the fortified place on the Langa". The word "Langa" is an ancient European name for water. Water is one of the most important ingredients in whisky making. The name Langatun is therefore a tribute to the region's early settlers and brewers. Their traditions have been adopted, continued and developed by Baumberger descendants. When the newly qualified master brewer Jakob Baumberger returned to his homeland from Munich in 1857, he founded a distillery, which he ran on his father's farm with his seven brothers. Jakob's father, Niklaus, was a farmer, pub owner and brandy distiller.
