Rum Chantal Comte

Born into a family that settled in the West Indies fifty years ago this year (1964), Chantal Comte has a passion for rum, to which she was introduced by two great specialists, André Depaz and Paul Hayot. It was André Depaz, owner of Plantation de la Montagne Pelée, who encouraged her to create a profession that didn't exist in rum at the time, and which is now commonplace in the whisky world: "whisky blender and bottler". It was also André Depaz who convinced her to distribute some of her "Réserve de Château" under his name Chantal Comte, thus giving her a foot in the door. But if she signs her blends, because she claims them as her own, she always respects the origin and highlights the know-how of the distillers she works with, for whom she has great respect and admiration. Owner of the Domaine du Château de la Tuilerie in Nîmes, where she was the winemaker until last August, she now devotes herself entirely to her job as selector of exceptional rums, which she has been doing for thirty years.
