Cigars Vegueros
It's a tradition among planters in the Vuelta Abajo region to roll their own cigars. It's not uncommon for tourists visiting this part of the Pinar del Río province to want to taste these local (not to say "homemade") cigars made with the finest tobacco leaves in the world. It was to meet this demand that the Vegueros brand was introduced to the Habanos-loving public in 1996.
But above all, it was created as a vibrant tribute to those farmers, the keystones of the entire Cuban cigar industry, who, from generation to generation, have worked tirelessly on the Pinard el Rio plantations. The intense flavor emanating from the ligada des puros Vegueros is typical of these "country cigars", the ones that farmers roll for their own personal consumption. Production is entrusted to the Francisco Donatien factory, which occupies an imposing building in the center of the town of Pinard el Rio (capital of the province of the same name, which includes the Vulta Abajo region).
The building is historic, having been built in 1866 and converted into a cigar factory in 1961. All Vegueros Habanos have a long filler and are labelled "totalmente a mano". Their taste ranges from medium to strong.
