Rolls-Royce announces a $55,000 travel humidor

Rolls-Royce has announced a new travel humidor. And just like the cars sold by the company, its price is higher than any of its competitors. In fact, the price of Rolls-Royce's new humidor is higher than the average price of a new car sold in the United States last year.

Rolls-Royce Cellarette

This is the Rolls-Royce Cellarette, and technically, it's more than just a travel humidor. The aluminum frame opens on both the left and right sides. The top lifts up to reveal hand-blown stone glasses, while the sides each contain a box. One of these boxes is designed to hold a bottle, Rolls-Royce markets the product for whisky, while the other box is a Spanish cedar-lined travel humidor that has slots for four cigars. The bottle holder is lined with leather and the travel humidifier features an analog hygrometer.

The price is $55,132 excluding taxes.

Rolls-Royce claims that the top piece is designed to function as a table, with a press release stating that it could be "a centerpiece at an al fresco dinner party". It is crafted from open-pore obsidian veneer and features Rolls-Royce's iconic Spirit of Ecstasy logo.

There are also two S.T. Dupont accessories specially designed for the Cellarette. The Cellarette includes a Rolls-Royce S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 soft lighter and what appears to be a special version of the company's cigar cutter. These accessories are stored in a small circular container that attaches magnetically to the travel humidor. There's also an ashtray that attaches magnetically.

Rolls-Royce claims that the Cellarette can be customized to the buyer's specifications, which probably opens up an infinite amount of possibilities, as long as someone is willing to pay for it. For those interested, the Cellarette can be purchased from Rolls-Royce dealers worldwide.

This isn't the first time Rolls-Royce has offered a humidor. In the modern era, the company has integrated humidifiers into various models of its vehicles. These have included humidifiers located in the rear seat trays, as well as an option to install a small humidifier in the glovebox of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Rolls-Royce also sells a different version of the Cellarette called the Champagne Chest. It uses the same basic design, although it is designed to hold champagne and caviar.
