Arturo Fuente International is born. In mid-September, Arturo Fuente and the Meerapfel family finally realized the dream of Richard Meerapfel and Carlito Fuente to form Arturo Fuente International. A forty-year dream has finally come true. Tobacco broker Richard Meerapfel and cigar manufacturer Carlito Fuente met in the late 1970s. An instant friendship was born, as they shared the same passion for tobacco, family, culture, love and life. Two tobacco families, generations active in the trade, formed a bond. A bond to grow the world's best tobacco and make the world's best cigars. Tobacco from Cameroon, cigars from the Dominican Republic. And don't compromise on quality, never compromise.
Everything has to be perfect, every time. From soil to seed, from cultivation to fermentation. And then the aging, selection and handling of the tobacco. Perfection in the rolling process, in the aging. Perfection in the packaging, not a single compromise. There's a reason Arturo Fuente was the first company to ship its boxes with Boveda packs to guarantee perfect cigars every time. Even after 40 years, Arturo Fuente and Meerapfel remain true to this dedication to perfection. The early days were tough, if it wasn't a Cuban cigar, consumers wouldn't touch it. It was a long and difficult struggle, with many setbacks. But the families stayed true to their vision, to their craft. Even when tragedy struck and Richard Meerapfel passed away in 2003, aged 52. By then, the two families were already one big family at heart. And they still are today.

40 years after Carlito Fuente and Richard Meerapfel first met, their dream came true. Arturo Fuente International was born. Arturo Fuente is the fastest-growing cigar brand on international markets, at a pace the cigar industry has never seen. The sales, promotion and marketing division and offices are located at Arturo Fuente International in Basel, Switzerland. Arturo Fuente International is the exclusive Eastern Hemisphere sales and logistics arm of the Arturo Fuente brands. It handles worldwide distribution outside the United States. During the party, Carlito Fuente and Jeremiah Meerapfel gave passionate and emotional speeches about the past, the future, family and love. About two families becoming one, support, distributors becoming families. And of course, about the need to stay united to fight the storm, the storm that threatens the cigar industry. The nanny regulations that are destined for the cigar industry's lifeblood. The new generation was introduced, the people who run operations from the shadows were honored and given the praise they deserve. With the expansion of the new bonded warehouse and international office, international markets will be even better supplied.
