Naga Rum

Java rum
Naga is produced on the island of Java using an ancestral Asian distillation process, a pure Indonesian product. It owes its name to a mythical Asian creature. A special feature of this rum is the addition of malted Javanese red rice yeast to boost fermentation. It is aged in barrels of Jati, a local wood, and in bourbon casks. It is considered one of the smoothest rums in the world. It is also extremely elegant, with spicy, fruity aromas. An invitation to travel to exotic lands.

Land of rum
Above all, Naga represents a return to our roots. Indonesia is the birthplace of sugar cane, which has been cultivated here for 80 centuries. But it's also a return to the roots of the rum known there as Batavia Arrak. Batavia being the name given to Jakarta in 1619 by the Dutch East India Company, Arrak being the literal translation of alcohol.

Numerous written records attest to this: as early as 1634, British merchants bought batavia arrak from Indonesian distillers. We know that in 1712 there were a dozen distilleries around Jakarta, and more than twenty by 1778. As a result, Indonesian rum became very popular in Europe in the early 18th century. It was the basic ingredient of punch and was preferred to Caribbean rums at the time.

Smooth, elegant rum
It was this exotic, elegant rum that four friends, Olivier, Sébastien, Jose Luis and Jesus, discovered in Hong Kong in 2012. Naga, named after this mythical Asian creature, symbol of prosperity, fertility and protector of nature's treasures, had just been born. Naga rum is a rum whose sweetness and subtlety are elegantly counterbalanced by spicy, fruity notes.
A rum that asserts its closeness to nature, while at the same time being gourmet and refined.
