Trinidad celebrates 50 years with 5 new cigars

Fifty years ago, the Trinidad brand was created, originally as a private label for Fidel Castro, then for society diplomats. Now the brand is sold worldwide, and 2019 marks a year of celebration, which Habanos SA will realize in style with five different versions.

The Trinidad brand will receive three new regular production cigars, all topped with the pigtail.

  • Trinidad Media Luna - 4 1/2 (115 mm) x 50
  • Trinidad Topes - 4 11/12 (125 mm) x 56
  • Trinidad Esmeralda - 5 7/10 (145 mm) x 53

While the Esmeralda and Media Luna are new vitolas, the Topes was originally released a 2016 Edición Limitada edition . Due to its popularity, Habanos SA decided to make cigars a regular production.

In addition, Trinidad has been chosen for the 2019 release of Colección Habanos. This cigar will be the Trinidad Casilda, a parejo measuring 7 2/7 (185 mm) x 53. Although not as dazzling as the Gran Reserva and Reserva series, the Colección Habanos series is one of the most expensive offerings from the Cuban cigar company, best known for its book-like boxes.

This is Colección Habanos' second release for Trinidad after the Torre Iznaga, 6 7/10 x 52, which made its debut in 2006.

Finally, there's the Trinidad 50 Aniversario, the brand's first non- parejo format. It measures 6 1/10 (155 mm) x 59 and is offered only in a 50-cigar-capacity humidor. The first of these humidors will go under the hammer later this week at the annual humidor auction at the Festival del Habano XXI. A total of 100 humidors, each containing 50 cigars, will be sold.
