Our families have been growing tobacco in the Puriscal mountain region of Costa Rica for over 80 years. The climate is ideal at this altitude of 1100 metres. With the right proportion of rain and humidity, combined with a period of drought, the region is particularly suitable for the cultivation and natural curing of tobacco. In addition, we do not use pesticides.

Several years ago, one of the world’s greatest masters of high quality cigar making, Sr. Don Luis Santana Lamas, joined us. He brought us his vast experience in growing, curing and aging tobacco. He has taught the craftsmen of our factory how to make high quality cigars. In fact, it takes more than three and a half years to create a Vegas de Santiago cigar.

A range of “Don Luis” cigars has been specially developed in his honour.

For the manufacture of our cigars, we select the best tobaccos from Central America, the Caribbean and Ecuador. They are entirely handmade by our craftsmen here in our factory in Santiago de Puriscal.

Although our production manager was a Cuban master and we use Cuban techniques, we do not try to imitate “Los Cubanos”, but strive to set a new Costa Rican standard in quality and aroma that will satisfy true connoisseurs around the world.
