Rhum Bielle

Discovering the Bielle brand
The island of Marie-Galante is less well known than Martinique, but it's also a historic Caribbean rum-producing region.

The proof: it's also where the famous Bielle brand was established. Here's a look back at the history of this brand, which has done so much for rum...

A little history
Right from the start, Bielle decided to play the quality card: our rums are made exclusively from pure sugarcane juice (not molasses). The result is an inimitable taste that will delight all lovers of this noble spirit, including you.

Initially, the family farm was devoted to coffee production. No fewer than 32 farmers worked on plantation. But by 1826, the coffee plants had given way to a sugar factory. This was passed on to the Espanet, Bourjac and then Bazile families, through inheritance, acquisition, etc., but the founder's family name was retained.

By 1940, the business was flourishing, selling 26,000 liters of rum a year. Today, the company, acquired by Paul Rameaux and then Dominique Thierry, has increased production tenfold, to 330,000 liters a year.
Production is carried out with respect for the environment, thanks to the phytoremediation technique: the vinasses are placed in a natural basin containing plants that contribute to the treatment of residues through evapo-transpiration.
